A really special find of these rare vintage Maireener shells with a magical purple green iridescence from Tasmania allowed me to created these unusual earrings. Part of my Mermaid Treasures collection, they include sterling silver hand made frames with tiny detailed edges hold the shells and central cream coloured fresh water pearls in place.

The circular frames have a solid back and have a satin finish, made from recycled sterling silver and have been hallmarked at London Assay Office. The width of the frames is 18mm, the length of the earrings from the top of the hand forged ear hooks to the base of the drop is 35mm.

The shells have been set in clear resin, and although they have been strengthened, they should be treated carefully, like pearls, no perfume, hairspray or chemical silver cleaner should be sprayed on them.
